Welcome to the Craft section of the Life After ABA Classroom! Here, you'll find a variety of fun and engaging activities designed for parents and professionals to enjoy. Each craft is thoughtfully created to encourage creativity, enhance fine motor skills, and foster meaningful connections. Let's explore the joy of crafting together while supporting the unique strengths of every child!

1. Paper Mache Animals

Materials Needed:

 

Procedure:

  • Mix equal parts white glue and water.

  • Inflate a balloon or use a cardboard base to shape your animal.

  • Tear the paper into strips and dip them into the glue mixture.

  • Cover the shape with the paper strips, overlapping them. Use at least 3-4 layers.

  • Allow to dry completely (24 hours).

  • Once dry, pop the balloon (if used) and decorate with acrylic paint.

 

 

 

2. DIY Slime

Materials Needed:

  • White glue (about 120 ml)

  • Baking soda (1/2 teaspoon)

  • Food coloring (optional)

  • Saline solution or contact lens solution (about 1 tablespoon)

 

Procedure:

  • In a bowl, mix the glue and baking soda.

  • Add a few drops of food coloring and mix well.

  • Slowly add the saline solution, stirring until you achieve a stretchy slime consistency.

  • If the mixture is too sticky, add a bit more saline solution.

  • Knead with your hands to improve the texture.

3. Beaded Bracelets

Materials Needed:

  • Beads of various colors and shapes

  • Elastic string

  • Scissors

 

Procedure:

  • Cut a piece of elastic string about twice the length of the wrist.

  • Start threading beads onto the string, alternating colors and shapes according to your design.

  • Once finished, tie the string securely to prevent the beads from slipping off.

  • Trim any excess string and wear your bracelet!

 

 

4. Origami Figures

Materials Needed:

  • Square paper (various colors)

 

Procedure:

  • Choose an origami model (like a crane or flower) and find specific instructions.

  • Start folding the paper according to the instructions, carefully following each step.

  • Make sure to keep the folds crisp, using a ruler if necessary.

  • Once completed, you can decorate the figure or leave it as is.
