Trauma and Autism

Caring for or raising an autistic child frequently involves the challenge of determining if a behavior is related to autism, a response to trauma, or a combination of both. Autism and trauma can exhibit similar behaviors, making it easy to misinterpret what a child is trying to express. I have learned this firsthand with my own son, which is why I decided to leave my job to become his paid caregiver and understand the reasons behind William's struggles.
